If you haven't already guessed, the name of this blog refers to one of the all-time great pop records - Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. More about that later ...
As I write this I ask my myself: Why in 2009 am I bothering to start up a blog? What do I have to say to the world that is new, interesting and relevant? Why am I bothering when experienced bloggers such as J.C Loophole (see May 20 entry) are themsleves questioning their blogging existence?
Surely the world is too full of blogs already. Why bother to create a new one? Of course, the same can be said about children ... and I think that is where the answer lies.
The world doesn't need any more children but, people keep having them. Why? Because people enjoy making them. And so it is with blogs. We don't really need any more blogs but everybody enjoys making them.
And so, here is my blog. You might not like it. You might not like what it has to say or the way it behaves. But, it's been made.
That's life.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking along the same lines, what is so important that I need a forum to be able to make earth shattering comments even if I could think of some. I'm not sure I agree that the enjoyment of 'making children' really equates with 'making blogs'however should that be the case then it is a pretty darn cheap form of birth control...I see a new slogan "Make blogs not babies"
